Rukia Kuchiki
The Soul Reaper who first gives Ichigo his powers, and a core member of the main cast throughout Bleach's run.
Rukia Kuchiki is a Soul Reaper of the noble Kuchiki family and the character whose decision to transfer her powers to Ichigo Kurosaki kicks off the entire series. She remains one of the central figures in his circle throughout Bleach, both as an ally in battle and as the person most directly responsible for his position in the story.
Powers
Rukia specializes in ice-based Zanpakutō techniques, with her Bankai representing a significant leap in both scale and control compared to her earlier appearances in the series. She's consistently portrayed as tactically sharp, often arriving at critical moments to change the shape of a fight rather than simply adding firepower to it.
Role in the story
Rukia's role has always been more than "the one who started it" — she's a recurring tactical and emotional anchor for Ichigo specifically, frequently the one who arrives to buy the group time or turn a losing fight, including in the Thousand-Year Blood War's climactic battles.
