Sakamoto Days · Character Guide

Nagumo

An ally and protégé figure of Sakamoto's in the manga's final battle arc, who steps in against the enemies Gaku and Uzuki after Sakamoto is seriously injured.

Nagumo is one of the characters central to Sakamoto Days' final battle arc, stepping into a direct combat role after protagonist Sakamoto suffers a serious injury during the confrontation with the assassin Slur, also known as Uzuki.

Role in the climax arc

With Sakamoto taken out of the fight, at least temporarily, Nagumo takes on the enemies Gaku and Uzuki directly — a structural choice that shifts the arc's momentum away from its usual reliance on Sakamoto's overwhelming skill and forces other characters to carry the weight of the story's climactic confrontation.

Connection to Uzuki

As the arc has developed, Nagumo and Uzuki have been revealed to share a connection tied to the death of a character named Rion, with both pursuing what the story frames as a shared but conflicting sense of revenge. That shared motivation complicates a fight that could otherwise read as a simple hero-versus-villain confrontation, giving both characters a grief-driven throughline rather than a purely antagonistic one.

Why this matters for the arc's stakes

Nagumo taking on a direct combat role during Sakamoto's incapacitation is part of what signals the climax arc's higher stakes compared to earlier stretches of the series — the story is no longer resolving its biggest confrontations solely through Sakamoto's overwhelming competence, which raises the tension around whether the people around him are actually equipped to survive what's coming.
